Im sure somewhere in here this has been covered but i felt it was a good enough topic to post again if it had.
As most wrenches that have changed cams on a twin cam know the 1 and 2 bolt holes in the cam plate are easily stripped when torquing the bolts anywhere near the specs. I found during my research before replacing cams that a simple and great fix before you mess up the bolt holes is to put studs in the spots with 12 point nuts.
Dorman part number 675-086 is a 1/4 20 stud with a 1/4 24 thread for the nut. I picked up two at the local parts store. I did have a lot of trouble finding the small twelve point and I found that summit sells a set of 1/4 24 ARP 12 point nuts that fits the job perfectly. This was so much easier and cleaner than repairing a couple stripped holes in a cam chest.
ARP 300-8330
This was an easy upgrade for around $20 and in my opinion just another item the MOCO should have already taken care of.
