Harley newb needs cam selection help

Bike is a 2012 FLD.

Stock 103"
Power Commander 5
Arlen Ness Big Sucker I
Rush Racing 2>1

The motor has 2400 miles on it.

I am keeping the heads stock for now.

I would like to go to a .030 MLS head gasket if possible for better quench and a bit more compression.

I shift at redline (where ever that may be). So if the cams you recommend make power on the right side of the curve, I am ok with that as the rpm drop between shifts is where I need to make power besides 1st gear "launch"

Thanks

call Andrews products in IL or look @ there website!
stock heads will narrow your choices but you will still gain power & torque Cam choice is always determiend by how the heads flow! stock heads are junk and are the main reason the newer motors run so hot....with the right mods they can run 30-40% cooler

call Randy @ Hyperformence kingofcubes.com

Fueling 574
The heads have nothing to do with the heat issues.
The. Cams having no overlap , and the EPA mandated lean closed loop fuel management is what makes them run hot.
Any of these cams should get you in the 90-95 hp 105-115 tq range .
The curve wll be slightly diff depending on the cam choice.
The cycle Rama 575 andrews 57,SE 204 will come on a little quicker , and the feuling and Andrews 54 will come on a little later.
On a dyna you could give up a little low end grunt to gain on the top.
Cycle Rama 575 works sweet .

Just did a 103" bagger a few weeks ago. Put in a .030 mls head gasket and andrews 57h cam. Left the stock push rods and tubes. No dyno number, but seat of the pants feel was very good. A lot of bang for the buck.

I'm still a newb, but I used the TW222 cams and I'm very pleased.

In 2006 the heads were changed, at least for Dynas, they flow better than many previous hi-po heads. Fuel injection does not like overlap cams, they pollute the charge. Check automobiles current state of tuning. I could be a few years behind on that.

I'm looking to try the Tman 555 Torqster cams in my new motor after I get a few hundred miles on it, with the Cometic 0.30 head gaskets and adjustable pushrods, and check and set the deck on the heads.

I know you probably won't want to hear this, but you are asking for trouble if you run the "C" lifters that come with the bike. They can hardly stand the stock cams and will self destruct with anything bigger.
I'd highly recommend you change out lifters to S&S lifters, set them down the hole .140. IMHO the best of the rest! windwolf

Agreed! If u do cams, you need to swap the stock lifters and it would be a good idea to get new cam bearings (around $20bux), amd adj. pushrods IMHO, this will make it all easier down the road

Fred1369 will become famous soon enough
Head-Quarters 575 cam and Black Ops lifters. Pulls all the way from 2000 to 6000 . Shift anywhere you want. Awesome.

So the general consensus is the is no true "bolt in" cam?

lifters at minimum, and pushrods should be done.
