New 120 build dynoed
Just got my new 120 build broken in and dyno tuned yesterday. I was a little disappointed with the numbers. Final tune made 119.01 hp and 121.63 torque. I was hoping for around 130/130. I know the exaust isn't the best but I like the looks and the sound. And it was 103 degrees and very humid here that probably didnt help either. It is much more fun to ride tho, and the top end is very quite with the 625 cams. Was I expecting to much? I have seen a dyno graph of a very simular 110 build make these numbers.

I think most likely the temp and humidity killed your numbers. What are the characteristics of T-Man's Stage 2 heads (valve sizes, intake port size and maybe CFM?). I wouldn't worry about the numbers so much under the circumstances just the HP and TQ curves. Can you post your dyno curve by chance? Its actually a little harder than people realize to get over 1 HP per cubic inch. And exhaust can be critical to that. I had to try 3 different exhausts and two tuners to finally get mine right! -Tutt

I was thinking maybe the temp hurt me some. Valve size is 2.13 int. and 1.630 on the exh. Int. ports are 1.760 but not sure of the flow numbers.

Holy Crud, I doubt the heads are holding you back then. Could have been differences just from temps or dynos. What type of tuning device did you use? If its a TTS map there are other tuners here you could share the map with to review it if you have it on a memory chip. A tune or the exhaust is critical but at present I really think it was just the temps. -A-

Will try to get sheet posted if I can figure out how do do it. I have the SE pro super tuner and it was tuned at my local HD dealer. There are not many tuners here in the west TN area. I was charged with 4 hours labor. The graph shows 100 ft-lbs torque at 2700 rpm and climbs to 120 at 3500 and is flat until 4300 ant peak hp is 119 at 6000 rpm.

With any decent build at all you should always expect 1hp per cubic inch. Either it was poorly tuned, bad day, or something. Not sure what part of West, TN you live in but it may benefit you a trip to a good tuning shop like Mann's HD in Indiana. I live in Nashville and only use them. It's just a couple hundred miles and worth the trip. Another thing to think about also is how poorly the tuner must be if they take 4 hours. The guys at Mann's are amazing. Even on a brand new build since they have been tuning for years wouldn't take half that time to get the most out of your bike. There are a lot of tuners that will just keep your bike in there and charge you hour upon hour to milk you. I read about these people paying for 8 hour tunes and thats crazy. If someone tells you they need 8 hours you run don't walk from that shop.

Major red flag there. Plenty of people with the software to look at that map, including this forum. -Tutt

Like already said, sounds like there is more there. As you can see on my map, my SE 120R is over 100 ft lbs at 2000 rpm. While I am using a 2-1 and different manifold / throttle body than most seems like there is probably more to be had in your build.
My bike is tuned with an SERT which some contend is a fairly limited tuning device, yet it was able to produce good results in the hands of a skilled tuner.

I can't help to believe that there is more in there also. I was hoping to have major torque starting lower in the rpm range, like maybe around 110 by 2500. I live about 50 miles east of Jackson TN. Anyone reccomend a really good tuner in the two or three hundred mile radius ?
Fatboy....what part of ILL is Manns in ? Has anyone else used them ?

I have a 107 with the SE Pro Super Tuner tuned By HD Bowling Green in Bowling Green KY. Stage III Hillside Heads manifold ported to match, 50 MM TB (96CI) stock injectors, Ness Big Sucker AC, Woods TW 6-6 cams, V & H 2 to 1 Propipe Chrome (not the high output).

The se tuner is up to the task.
If it was a 4th gear pull instead of 6th gear? Then your about right for what you have.

I assume it was 4th gear pulls on the dyno but I didn't ask. I was hoping for a little more torque and around 110 by 2500 rpm. Maybe I should have bought a crate 120R. I would have saved a quite a bit of money if I had and also had more power. I will know the next time around to do just that.

Is this a HD SE120R crate or kit motor with the MVA CNC ported heads?? Doesn't look like it based on the base heads used.
