Still blowing oil out the breathers
Hopped on the bike and headed 3.5 hrs down to Kentucky. Noticed the rear brakes fading. Sure enough, got down there and I blew about 1/4 of a quart all over the right rear of the bike.
Got home from my trip and drained 4 or 5 ounces from the crank case. I checked the rubber breather valves and they are functioning properly (let air out, not in).
What's next? Leak down check?

It's a K&N element on a back plate from GMR

Bob, are you talking about the breather assemblies that mount to the rocker shaft holders/bases? If so, they are the stock 2007 model, which I think were cast aluminum.

Backing plate from GMR. I have banjo fittings and run 2 separate hoses to the ground.

Yep, the top breathers, swap out to the new style and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Bob, what made you go with the Thayer pump? Were you having scavenging problems, or did you do it for the hell of it?

Well I put in the new style breathers. Still blowing oil, maybe more now. One thing is that it seems it's only coming out of the rear head. Only thing I think is that the oil return in the rear head is blocked. Anyone ever encounter this?

Solution?
R&R heads, 124 inches, logged over 70,000 miles.
Breathers ran mandatory catch can at sanctioned drag strips, on the road breathers only.... the breathers would mist (ever-so-slightly).
The last 5,000 miles we ran a turbo, no oil issues....ever...

I think you may want to go ahead and do that leak down test now.

You may be building up crankcase pressure due to cylinder leakage.

I wouldn't mind doing that leak down test. Anybody know where I can get a tester?
