C-Cat wants to know Dino or Syn?
Woods New TW 777

Anyone tried a set of these cams?
.575 lift 42* intake closing 244/244 duration. Somewhat of grunt/hotrod hybrid cam. What do you think would be a decent, moderate compression for these cams on a 107ci RGC? 99% of my riding is the Northeast, and will be running a Jagg 10 row oil cooler.
Had the chance to put the coals to my nephew's RKC 103ci. with Woods .555's Jackpot headpipes/mufflers, TTS map no dyno tune, and still stock heads/head gaskets tonight. These cams are way quieter than the 7H's, and I thought they hit pretty good, for no comp bump or tune. I've got a set now waiting to go into my RGC, however thinking of switching to the TW 777's and running them around 10.5:1 with ported heads. Also wondering if the 777's are on the quieter side like the .555's?

the 777 is a low lift version of the tw-400. should be better in a 107 than the 555. noise should be similar to the 555.

10.5:1 cr with the 777 is not moderate compression for a heavy bike. 201psi ccc. But with good pipes, tune and comp releases it will run great. 10:1 cr is moderate...190 psi ccc.

Carl, the 777 are still a few weeks out of being released. Early or mid October from what i heard.
I agree with ejlk.

Yea, you're correct. No wonder my 103 (10.4:1) with Woods 7h always needed comp. realeses, and hit so early. May have to shoot for a less compression, although where I live is 600ft above sea level, never even considered not running comp releases and oil cooler.

acbacb wants to know where he is and how he got here
The new 777 looks interesting to me. I am in a cam quandry right now. I will have Strokerjlk do a build and tune next year on my 2012 SG. I gotta wait a while because of the warranty but i will never make it two years. I will have Jim determine my exact build, assemble the parts then let him work his magic.

There are so many nice cams out there and it keeps getting better. Oh man, decisions, decisions on the cam of choice. I think I am going to get the exact build specs pretty soon and start assenbling the parts. The contemplation of cam choice is driving me nuts!!

So I sent my Woods 555 cams back to Fuel Motto and exchanged them for the 777's to run in the Fuel Motto 107 kit. I'd like to mention they exchanged the cams at no cost, and didn't even charge me for shipping on the new cams. Thanks Jamie and Fuel Motto! Hoping to get a few more rides in before this year and the big bore will be a late winter project. Build will be CP 10.25 pistons, Fairbanks ported stock heads, running 1.90in/1.57ex, clean up stock TB, Woods 777cams and diectional lifters, Fuel Motto push rods, V&H Power Duals, Crusher mufflers, SE clutch spring and Evo Ind. kevlar clutch plates if needed. Going to try and get away with the stockers if at all possible. Looking to make 1hp per ci, around 115tq without getting crazy on ccp.

I got the 107 topend on my 2011 RGC and a roughed in tune to put some miles on it. I had Fairbanks motors put a few breakin (65) miles on their dyno, enough to do some low speed tuning, and get the afr's close. Then I rode it for another 80miles rolling on the throttle from 2700-3000 up to 4000 rpm's. It felt like it had decent tq and great throttle response. The engine has very little valve train noise with the Woods 777 cams, and Woods lifters. Other components are stock tb/inj. Fairbanks 1.90/1.57 ported heads, V&H Power Duals/w Crusher Mellow Mufflers, and they are very quiet. About a mile from home, curiousity got the best of me and I nailed it in 1st around 2800 and was was very pleased of the hit and how it pulled 1st-2nd and 3rd short shifting around 4800. Can't wait to get some more miles on the RG and let Drew Fairbanks finish the tunning. Too Bad the weather forecast for the Memorial Day long weekend is rain. Just want to thank BV Bob for the advice on the Power Duals and Crusher Mufflers. I also want to thank Mr. Fairbanks for geting everything done start to finish in a weeks time by himself, including tear down, head porting, setting comp @10.5:1, and a partail tune which seems spot on to me. I'll let you guys know what the final #'s are in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Dan, that's what I'm shooting for! Regardless of #'s, it's going to fit the bill for a good touring bike.

Glad u got it going. I know when I had the 7h in I had too much comp @10.8 and it would ping easily.

Not too worried about that. Drew did a 103 for me with 7H's @ 10.4 and it pinged with the T-Max base map, but it was easy to tune it out, then I had it tuned with the TTS and it ran great. 777's should be able to take a bit more comp.,not to mention with good heads, tune, and I got a Jagg 10 row side mount on her.

Wel 500 miles on the new 107 everything going well. Valve train is quieter than stock, which was noisy IMO. If you're looking for a cam that brings the power 0n @2200-2500 this isn't it. Power starts coming at 2700-2800 and is spooled up nicely at 3000 rpm's, exactly where I was riding with the stock 96in. Nice manners at 2000rpm city driving, and is a lot of fun when I put it to the bar. Took it to 5500 today and was still pulling , front end gets real light when I throttle it at 2800 in 1st. Starts well with comp releases, and has good manners. The Crusher Mellow mufflers have a nice deep rumble in town and at idle, at cruising speeds you can barely hear them.Going back to the other baffles has crossed my mind, well see. Hopefully I can get the RG back to Fairbank s Motors t his week for full throttle tune and final #'s
