New SE 120R Motor

Man, I almost couldn't believe it-this new HD motor looks like a home run.
10.5 CR out of the box for pump gas, top of the line parts with a strong bottom end, almost pro level heads, 135 HP (and more with the optional 12-1 pistons), and a price point that is just incredible. Available as a complete crate motor from certain dealers for under 5k with discounts plus requires separate purchase of appropriate Screamin’ E agle
throttle body, high-flow injectors and a high-performance
clutch upgrade. Just add your choice of race exhaust, highflow
air cleaner, and tuning. ...then smoke all your friends...

I have been an S&S guy for years, but geez, this thing just rocks...

Screamin’ EagleŽ pro SE 20R High-

When equipped with appropriate high-flow throttle body
and injectors, an open air induction, and tuned exhaust, this
engine is capable of producing a reliable 135+ horsepower
at the rear wheel.

Cheap too..Has some really strong points and some weak points to it. The new hurricane heads look interesting with the new port shapes and valve sizes..Said this 120 will see 150hp with the hurrican heads and 12 to 1 piston kit...i'll wait for george to try first...lol

Paul, wonder how accurate their head flow is?

Yeah, not sure but I bet it's pretty accurate-those heads have to flow like a MOFO to put out 135 plus hp at 10.5-1 out of a a 120".
I'd like to see a welded crank and Timken but at the complete crate motor under 5k at certain dealers...damn. That's Chinese Rev-Tech crap territory prices!

HAWGZILLA wants to know Dino or Syn?
The dealership where I work put one of these engines together from a kit and installed it in a trike of all things. While it certainly wouldn't have been my choice of combinations for a trike, it is extremely well mannered and a joy to ride. Very nice looking piece and gobs of power. Sure would be fun in a Dyna!!

Some unresolved information in my mind
The literature says 10.5/1 and the MVA heads.
So is that the combo that made 135?
What about these Hurricane heads and 12/1.
I see there is another even hotter cam too with near 700 lift.
Didn't they get the memo from the world about the cranks? Just kidding
I would like to know what is the real scoop here.
Still seems like a possible good deal if they hold up

I looked at these when the Dyna version appeared earlier in the year. Thought with their(HD) setup piston speed could be an issue. Ended up just buying the cases, bored to accept 4.125 Axtells, went the slightly shorter 4.5" S&S trued and welded crank and 2 lefty's.
Now there's an A and B version I reckon punters will line up for 'em, wonder if they have the 2011 rod and camplate setup.

This engine should be OEM in all stock HDs! Harley markets a purposely underpowered motorcycle and expects us to anti-up more money at the rate of ~$100 per hp and up!

I wonder how many of those parts are made state side. I'd love to know how one of those would perform with proper head work and 12:1compression with the late closing SE cam.

Gotta agree 100% with that!

I saw one of the early HD120 kits ~ for the Dyna's.

The guy bought the complete kit, including new cases. When he first fired it up, it had a serious & solid knock.

I proposed, on his description alone that the piston skirts might be hitting the case at the bottom of the spigot bore. When he pulled it apart, that's EXACTLY what it was ~ even with the HD 120 cases.

I knew that because we discovered the same issue during mock-up of my old HQ120 (same dimensions). The difference was that we found and fixed them before the motor ever went into the frame.

The MotherShip replaced his whole kit, no charge... just his labor.

That's funny(well not really) Phil. Nothing like us backyard shops leading the way...

I personally cant wait until some of the (worse, not all are bad) dealers slap together a race kit with these huge valves, 12 to one compression, and throw a canned pos sest map on it..hehe...i can hear the detonation from my lazyboy. On the plus side, most of my builds are fixing ones others fugged up, so i will be busier.. Its a well know fact the fuel is getting worse and now they up the compression?
