AIR AIR and more AIR?
My wife bought me a 2008 FATBOB when they came out and of course I did the usual and on a budget of course.
Here is what i did and the question is near the end. I bought a set of V&H SHORT SHOTS STAGGERED and Installed a ARLEN NESS BIG SUCKER along with the V&H FUELPAK, When it came in. After maping it and calibrating the TPS, I was very well pleased with the difference in performance. And sound!
However, I do not think the Dyna stock cover is letting in the air the Filter is designed for and i noticed a lot of oil in the throttle body area during inspections. I took off the OEM cover and boy could i tell a difference and no more oil. Hmmm? But i am afraid that more rain and dirt may get in there? I like the looks of the open A/C but i need a cover for the front. I have seen one guy on a site that apparenlty cut out his OEM cover which says FATBOB 96 CUBES but i do not know what filter he had or if he had actually cut it out. Is that possible? Any suggestions on covers, is it ok to run without, was my OEM bogging down the air intake? And why no more oil in and around throttle body? Thanks ahead of time.

maybe the thread will be moved, but if I understand correctly you're asking if there's a more open cover available?

There are a number of round covers you can get for the end of that a/c. Arlen Ness sells a very nice one. I have been running an open filter for years no problems but you need to keep it oiled and cleaned at least once a season.

here's a pic of mine on a woods 325cfm element. the center cut out is on the small side compared to the air cleaner, so i painted the metal lip of the air filter with grill paint, giving it a textured look. i had a zippers filter last year and the cut out fit perfectly.

Hey C-CAT.... nothing much to do with bikes i guess, but is that a 3 cylinder two stroker i see with HUGE expansion chambers and 50mm Electron carbs??? Had this set up on an old H2 750 we used to drag race and have fun with little expense. I take it this is under the C CAT?

bamabob, yes on the 3cylinder 2stroke, and that engine is a 1260 hooper, in another sled now, replaced with a 1404. running same carbs and pipes on both.
