95" big bore kit

I have an 04 Road Glide with several mods done, one of which is the 95 kit.I just removed the front head,so I could deck it for more compression, and noticed that there are 4 vertical lines, aprox. 1/2 in wide, loctated by the cylinder studs. The cross hatching seems to be worn away in these areas.Does anyone know if this is a result of being improperly torqued when they were bored? My dealer charged me for a "new" kit,but they may have just bored out a set they had lying around.Thanks,Filthy.

Just a guess it's a result of the metal being thin in those areas. It's from heat. No issues.

This is caused from excessive heat turning the oil too thin to properly lubricate the cylinders. The cross hatch is getting rubbed off by the rings in the four expansion areas adjacent to the studs.
Use a 50 or 60 straight weight fossil oil to help this, or more efficient heads and better tune.

Listen to King-of-Cubes. Randy knows way more about this than I ever hope to.

How bout the lack of material(alum) around the studs to dissipate the heat efficiently.......Probably sat in traffic once or twice too long..

From what we see, that is distortion, and is not the end of the world.
If measured, once torqued, doesn't really boil down to a pimple on the a$$ of progress.
