Are there any factory problems with them that would make them undesirable? I have heard of primary bearing issues and trans noise.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

06 dyna was the primary bearing problem and the noise from the tranny on the 07 is just that, I have 15,000 on the clock and don't notice the noise at any more. I had a mildly built evo and wasn't happy with the 96 till I did the stage 1. No other bike I've had or worked on responded so well to just a stage 1 as my 07. SERT not dealer download.

maybe I am just lucky but never heard any 1 st or 5 th gear noise that others complain of.
on the touring models 1st gear is tooooo long legged. I swapped to a 49 tooth clutch hub gear to get away from that. almost 50,000 miles on my 07 any no tranny issues.
I will add that since day one. 1st gear at parking lot speed ....clutch in clutch out it sounds as if there is excessive back lash on the gears. but after the 49 tooth swap I dont notice it anymore.
was told that 1st and 5 th have more backlash on them.
sounded logical to me.

6th gear at 80 mph 3000 rpm all day long
3200 now

Most of the time, once the correct trans fluid is installed, with say Red Line Heavy Shockproof, all noises are gone, and shifting is quite a bit smoother as well.

Trust me when I say I have tried them all and I have to agree that Redline has been the best, doesn't totally eliminate the noise but it greatly reduces it.
