Rear Rocker Covers

I think I know the answer but just in case there is an easier way here goes. On the rear rocker box cover the left side forward bolt hits the frame and will not allow its removal. What I have done before is jack up the motor and remove the front motor mount to allow the motor to sit lower and allow removal of the bolt. This is a lot of extra work (remove oil cooler, voltage regulator, etc.) for one lously bolt. Everytime I have done it I think I'm going to cut this one bolt shorter but have not done so. My bike's engine sits very high in fact the rear rocker covers actually touch the frame. If there is a better way to remove this one bolt I would love to here it. Thanks in advance.

Remove the bolts that will come out. Lift the bolt(s) that won't come completely out and slide the cover off with the bolts up. Same with the rockers.

Why does your engine sit soo high? I have changed dozens of rocker gaskets and never ran into a problem like that.

On the rear rocker you just loosen the 4 rocker bolts and 2 breather bolts and pull out all together like yankeebob said.

This worked for me. I put all the locktite, etc on bolts and slid rocker stand and breather all back in place. Worked out well.

wrap a ratchet strap around the trans/engine/frame with the buckle underneath and ratchet it tight. It pulls the drivetrain down enough to get stuff out easily, unless this is on a softail

yes something is wrong if the rear rockers hits the frame. Must noisey and vibrate. something is not right. I usually end up sliding them in and out at an angle and it might take a few tries but eventually it all goes into place.

I wish it was so easy. The bolt is no longer threaded but it is still in the rocker box hole and will not allow the rocker cover to move. All my other HD's were not like this I'm not sure if it is the head size making it sit close to the frame or there is something different about the frame. This is the first CVO bike I have owned and this is not the first thing I have found that is non-typical.

make it easy on yourself and remove the front motor mount.Put a little sissor jack under the engine case and let the motor hang down. This gives all kinds of space to work with! Takes about 5 minutes but makes the whole job alot easier.

Syco that is what I have done in the past I was just hoping there was an easier way I did not know about.
