Engine case

Got my S&S crank pressed out last week and didn't really pay attention to the cases, just came home and set them on the bench.

Started messing with them a little this weekend and saw these marks inside the case. Any idea what would cause marks like this?

First one looks to be caused from the counter-balance assembly and the second is where the crank was of course.

Like I said many times before, I don't trust anything in this motor at this point...

I'm just hoping I can re-use these cases for a 117 build.

I sure don't wanna tell the wife I have to get a 155" cause I need new billet cases...

From the looks of the inside of the Feuling pump, lot's of little somethings went through there... It's ground up pretty good inside.

I did find the part that was missing off the rear piston skirt, it was down inside the crankcase but nothing other than that.

Everything holding the CB assembly in place was tight.

Before I put anymore money into this particular motor, these cases need to be completely inspected and see if they are even worth using...

Another fine Florida summer wasted driving a car...

Dog155 did it the economic way, assembled the engine and did the frame mods himself. The assembled engine from here starts at $12,650.00.

If I ever won the lottery, the R&R 155" would be my engine choice.Dog155 has informed me just how much he enjoys this particular motor and that about drives me crazy.Don't really care what it takes to get that bad boy in a Harley frame, because nothing could replace the joy of pure power!!The motor even gets 30 to 40 miles a gallon.Maybe R&R can give GM some hints on how to build a product!!

Are the nuts tight on the balancers? Since the balancer assy. is bolted to the left (timken) side and the marks are on the right case, I don't see how the timken insert (and crank) moving around would cause this. I guess some shrapnel could have gotten caught up and made the marks, but that perfect circle looks like the diameter of the nut, although not as wide.
I hope you're planning on removing your oil tank and giving it a good cleaning out, but I'm sure you've already thought about it, if you haven't already cleaned it!.

FLSTC do you ever have any good luck??? The motor you had seems like it was just a nightmare!!!!Hopefully you can salvage the cases & save some money!!!!If not it's more money down the tubes!!!!
