Crushed/Melted crank Sensor??
The other day at the track my buds bike kept getting slower and slower but seemed to be running fine from what he said. On his last run he did a warm up burn out and the bike just died. Turned over but would not fire. Error codes revealed Crank Position Sensor. Pulled it out to find it broke. Looks melted.
He replaced it and the bike seems ok but I'm worried something else is wrong. Pic is attached below.
Bike specs are:
06 night train
Axtell 124" kit..... 4.125 x 4.625
S&S crank trued & pro plugged by Hoban.
Balancers removed
Timken bearing.
He beats the snot out of it.
Any ideas why this happened?

Welded crank
The run-out issue is the very first thing that came to my mind,(seen runout do it) but Chris said that the crank took a trip to Hoban Bros. So I ruled that out. Was is welded,(?) as that insures no movement.
We have seen 'em "cook" on untuned oem builds, but as I said, really do not know the reason, unless excess heat/poor quality component.

Scott,
While no expert here, I've have a little bit of a problem with the motor overheating at the track, unless it's 110 out and the guy is lettin' the motor run while waiting for his turn.. Something might have come loose and wacked the sensor then got wedged in the sump tray like a piece of piston skirt, cylinder sleeve, oiler... Something on the crank itself might have failed.

I told him to check the runout also before running it again.
Also, maybe the primary comp nut is out of propert torque?
as far as temps, it was a cool day at the track and dont think he let it run long.
we'll check it out and report back what it was.
Thanks!!
