Revtech vs S&S vs Ultima
Does anyone know of any third party comparisons of these companies engines? I am specifically interested in the 113 cu. There seems to be a significant price difference.

Do it right the first time and go with Hyperformanc(Randy) or R&R. You cant get any better quality or service. Booggerbe

Given your choices listed in the original post, I would rank them 1. S&S 2. Ultima and a distant, very distant third would be Revtech. I agree with the above post....it couldn't hurt to give Randy a call and talk about what he could do for you. I have a recent, very positive experience buying parts from him for my build.

I know of 2 RevTech's 100CI and 120CI, bot needed complete rebuilds within about 15,000 miles. I know of 1 Ultima 127CI ... still running strong with about 20,000 miles. Many S&S Engines. Their reliability is as good as the builder that puts them together.
The Ultima was purchased in a package a few years ago, Show Polished Engine, Transmission & Belt drive ... for about $5000 or so. I'm keeping tabs on this one. If it holds up, that was a hell of a bargain.
With that being said, I'd prefer building on my own cases, but if I ever built a "Custom" Pro-Street or Chopper, I MIGHT consider the Ultima.

You get what you pay for. Quality & country of origin all figure into the low cost

As far as the engines you listed the S&S would be at the top of the list the others well we just did a 110 under warranty and are currently doing a ultima 120 for the second time. First go round the engine ran for 125 miles and stuck a piston. They sent new parts after questions them on the cylinder to wall spec they stated that any alterations would void warranty. Customer left it as is now the lifters spit out a axle, damage this go round , oil pump, crank, lifters, lifter blocks, pistons and cylinders. I have to say though that they do honor the warranty. But down time is always a factor.
As far as building a 113 make sure you start with new case's the stockers are prone to cracking behind the lifter block when bored.

This time last year I was asking the same as you, kberbet...
I went w/ S&S 113". I got it in a drivetrain deal...engine, 6spd tranny, charging system, battery, petcock & 1.8kw starter for $5800 delivered.
I put the engine & charging system in the bagger & the tranny & starter in my 'train...
I got all the manufactures warranties on all the components & haven't had a problem w/ any of them...
Good luck in your quest...
Putt
