HSR45 Mikuni carb. on a 1987 FLHT

I'm hoping to put a HSR45 Mikuni carb. on my 1987 FLHT, I found a deal on just the carb.
Will it fit? Is it too much carb for the bike?
What parts do I need to install this carb (cables, manifold, filter, cover, etc.) ? Where is a great place to buy these parts?
How will this carb. perform (I have never tried one) ? What else can you tell me about this carb set-up? Thank-you to all who respond!

WAAAAY too big a carb for an Evo 80" motor. A Mik 42 would be better. Can't speak for the throttle cables, but my gut tells me the stock one's will work fine. Enrichner cable too. You'd need a much larger intake manifold for the 45 as well. Pass on the "good deal." Find yourself a nice 42.

Mik's are nice crisp carbs, easy to tune and give good gas mileage.

Way too big!
Even a 42 is a lot of carb if you have a stock 80" motor,I'd look for a stock CV40 with the intake and enrichener cable from a later model.

Way too big. There are a lot of 100"+ engines using an HSR 45. You can get a stock 40MM CV cheap, easy to tune, great road manners & gas mileage. Try e-bay, or your local Harley dealer ... they probably have 40mm take-offs, or know someone that has one ... Hell, even I have one in the pile of stock parts in my garage.

As Y2K said a used 40 mm CV, would be great in that application.
The 45 Mikuni is a big 'un.
Of course you could always build an engine around the carb..........
