head article
william denish is writing an article about air flow in cylinder heads. he has been here at the shop having me try different things for him on this article. plans include to basline a stock cylinder head and then cnc machine different valve angles and valve to seat contact angles. the affect that they have on airflow. how port velocity is figured both mathematically and by using pitot tube to measure velocity. thanks sbc

When I was in Cinci for the dealer show they told me at the Newen booth that they were already working on that. Are you doing something different or was there a change in plans?

HI Larry!
Can you direct me to a string on this board where they are discussing the groovies?
So far, mine are behaving like champs. Not surprised a bit. Thanks for turning me on to them.

I don't think anybody here has tried them yet.

Bruce Woltz was talking about it last year.
personally, I'm mentally having a hard time seeing the benefit of grooves versus say an angled squish with say a 2* or 3* taper. All the grooves are doing is allowing space for the gas / air to be directed to the chamber. right? or am I missing something here.

The results often are quite rewarding.
"All they are doing" seems to be a lot. Leaner afr with less required timing is making my 206ccp chambers run like a lower compression bike. No hard starts or ping. (No releases).

I think Bruce did a set of heads for his bike that he's going to try them out.

If you want you can send me the heads & I'll groove them for free. Just pay for the shipping. I'd like to see more guys try this from different parts of the country where the gas might not be so good.

Didn't the guys who initially tried this groove the pistons instead of the heads? Seems like it wouldnt make any difference either way.
