Suggestions on shipping engine

Just pulled my engine from my Ultra yseterday in preparation for shipping to Hillside for a 117 build. Looking for suggestions on shippers and how to package for shipping.

We have shipping crates that we send out UPS and then the engines are shipped to us by trucking company.

Thanks KoC - I supose I whould call Hillside tomorrow and see if they do the same. Do you ship by trucking company due to weight or just to insure that no damage results. I am only shipping the assembled cases have the jugs and heads off. So if weight was the issue for not going UPS I amy be under their max weight limit.

Take heads and cylinders and pistons off and pull the studs out of the case. Then package real good in a sturdy box. Don't use packing peanuts or bubble wrap it won't hold up. I used lots of cardboard and dense foam. You can use some bubble wrap but don't rely on it. Also try to get as much oil out of the motor as possible. Wrap it real good in a trash bag or something. If any oil leaks out of the box when at the shippers it will delay it since they have to investigate. I had no problems and it came back the same way in one piece.

Head studs are out and crankcase seems dry after draining for two days. Plan on stopping at local shop to see if they have any boxes for the engines they have recieved. At least that will be a good starting point. Since I am shipping just the cases complete with crank hope it comes in under 70# then I'll just ship it UPS or FedX.
