Intake Manifold flowing
I am upgrading to a Screamin eagle 44mm carb. before I install this I wanna find out if it is worth while to polish the intake manifold? and if so can anyone give me a pointer as to how to do this? Is it worth doing the heads also?

Introduce yourself, please. If you do a search on head porting, you will find a lot of info. If you have a TC engine, head porting is the best thing you can do for you engine. Match the porting to the cam. Many of the sponsors do street ports, that is probabley what you need. Call them, send out your heads and tell them the build. make sure that they measure the volume of the combustion chamber and mill them if needed.

No polishing for the intake manifold on a carburated engine. The stock finish or sanded to match the finish of the intake port will keep the fuel from sticking to the walls.
As a side note; Intake manifolds on a F.I. engine do better with polishing as they carry only air.
...and I think paul was suggesting the introduction in the "My Story, the Beginning" section. Welcome just the same.

I don't know what it is worth but I just polished my own in my garage while I was putting my build back together. I just used my dremel with a little "flap brush" deal and then followed that up with a polishing wheel and my "Bom Metal Polish". Turned out real nice but like I said, have no clue if it helps anything or not. I think most will say not to do it since the "rough" cut of the manifold may help with the swirling of the intake charge............I wanted to do it "just because". Only took about 30 minutes worth of work.

I just upgraded to an 06 carbed manifold to go with my 06 heads. I went with the 06 manifold because it had more defined runners but what struck me was how well it was finished compared to the 04 manifold it replaced. The 04 manifold had some nasty casting ridges and the 06 was very smooth and matched up perfectly to the 06 heads ie there was no seam at all just a perfect match.
On another note it is funny to me how some people want introductions from new members.. reminds my of grade school on the first day..Hi my name is skippy I just moved from Indiana end of rant.

I like to remove casting imperfections and use a 36 grit cartridge roll. Also, make sure they match up to the head nicely.
