98" Tuning Help after Dyno

Got the bike dyno’ed – not tuned - last Friday. We did 10 pulls and charge was $45.00 so pretty good price for dyno time.

Build consists of the following:
Rev. Performance 98”; CP 10.5:1 pistons; OEM heads ported; .030” head gasket; the .615/.585 cam; Mikuni HSR 45mm; Crane Hi4-TC ignition; Fueling pump and cam plate; homemade air cleaner with Doherty backing plate; RB Racing LSR; 3.37 primary gearing.

650 miles on this build and CCP at 190psi front and 185psi rear. No leak down test performed yet.

Settings:
Crane at Mode 0; Offset 0; Initial +2; Advance +5
Mikuni at 170 main, #70 accel pump, #25 pilot, #97 needle at middle clip.
O2 sniffer in rear header pipe.

I have attached 3 charts showing the following: 1) 4th gear SAE at WOT 2) 4th gear SAE at ¾ throttle 3) 4th gear SAE at ½ throttle.

I am looking for tuning help from the forum board since there is no one local that can do this type of work. My plans are to change main jet from 170 to 180, raise needle up one slot, and replace #70 accel pump with a #50 since at the dip it is getting too rich. I may also try +1 initial and +6 advance on the ignition.

What else can I try to help that dip????

Thanks,
DEVILDOG

Well, you have all the right stuff in place. Your take on the carb set up is a good starting point, but you really need to verify the changes on the dyno or you may be chasing your tail for a while. The nice thing is, even if you just smooth the dip out your are looking at a gain of at least 15 lbs of TQ in a real important part of the power band. Don't screw too much with timing until you get the fuel right, but the LSR and the compression you are running will benefit from timing changes. Best of luck.

Thanks GRock

Yes, going to start with the fuel. The nice thing about this shop is that dyno time is charged as shop rates - $60/hr. The guys there are great and will let me make the changes and then make runs as needed and however I want. Going to schedule more time and bring my tools.

Agreed! I have one of them 615/585's along with the rest of the Power Pack 2 and a DTT in my Road Glide. All I can say right now is YO! when I crack the throttle.
