.036 head gasket

My dear 'ol dad has decided to buy my '03 FLHPI and does not feel he needs the 103 stroker motor. I have the original 88 all stock at my shop.

I was thinking of installing .036 head gskts. and a torque cam before I set it in the frame.

My question is what chain drive cam would be best w/thinner gskt. slip-on's and a decent flow A/C

If he was never going to go 95 or bigger the andrews 21 is hard to beat.

Check the crank run out before you go gear drive.

If he plans on riding solo an Andrew's 37 is fine, If he plans on riding 2up an andrews 26 would be ok. These guys say that a 37 needs more comp, and it does work stronger, but it was designed with stock to 9.5:1. I would use the .030 and maybe take off .020 from the heads, but that would be up to you.
That should bring you to 9.2:1 or so and you wouldn't be ruining the heads for a 95in if you ever wanted it.

Ordered an Andrews 37b, and a set of Cometic .030 gskts. This morning dear 'ol dad says just put it in stock, dont even take it apart........LOL

Soooo I think I'll rip in to the '06 and try the cam, gasket, and the Mik 45. on that. I had allready got the Mik 45 for the planned 98" build but what the heck, lets see how much power I can get at 88".

The 37 gring is a perfect grind for that motor and the Moco would have had a similar gring stock, except for EPA restrictions. Put it in, boost the comp, and it should go as far as a stock motor. This cam is a direct replacement, you don't have to modify anything else, you really don't hear it, but you will feel it!
