No Heat Issues Anymore!

Recently, I installed XIEDs on my 2007 Heritage Softail. I’ve been a lawman for over twenty years but my first career was in electronics, so I understand the theory of the XIEDs in a closed loop EFI. I corresponded with Steve Mullens before I purchased them, and he has spent a lot of time in researching the cure for the TC96 heat issues, including extensive testing.
I installed the Plug-N-Play XIEDs on my then stock Heritage and went for a test ride. I immediately felt a tremendous difference in lower midrange. For the first time, I could slip into 6th below 60 without lugging the Heritage. Roll on acceleration has greatly improved. I don’t have a way to measure head temperature, but my oil temperature dropped 30 degrees from earlier in the day.
This morning, I slipped on a pair of Khromewerks 3in. tapered mufflers. No codes and Oh my God; it now sounds like a Harley. I went for a two hour Hill Country ride in the low to mid 90s and my oil temp just hit 200.
The combination dropped my Heritage oil temperature from 240 to 200. Plugs are tan and just right. All I can say is XIEDs work.

I had the same outcome on my 08 EGC what a pleasant difference.

Just runs so nice at all RPMs and gear that your in. Mine has barely broke in and never really wound it up all the way yet but a big difference in power in all areas but you notice it in the lower RPMs first where it use to lug it has roll on power it didn't before the XIEDs were installed.

Enjoy

I ordered the X14IED's last Tuesday. According to the mail tracking site the package is at my local post office today. Not sure if it got on the truck for delivery today, but at worst I'll have the package tomorrow. Hurricane Ike is going to pi$$ on us all day tomorrow so it should be a good day to do the install over a cup of coffee. I might get to do a short test ride on Sunday afternoon.

My 2 cents worth;;;;

Last year upon buying my 07 FLSTC I also looked at the options of heat issues, they didnt have the IED' at that time and I opted to do stage 1 and SERT,dyno.
The IED's drops the fr to 13.7 which is alot better than stock.

The stage 1 and dyno wiill adjusts the whole RPM range and can get the fr down to 13.5 or what you perfer and you can adjust for the best motor tune in my opion. not only does it cool the oil (245 down to 210 {mine}) but will produce more HP and TQ.
It is more costly but I feel it is w0rth looking into as an option of the heating issue of the new 96 in harleys; cooling Plus you get better performance (nimbers).....

The XIEDs basically richen your fuel mixture, which helps with the heat.

Has anyone noticed how much of a hit you take on fuel economy? There must be, I just want to know how much. Asking for a friend with an '07. Thanks!

To be honest, I haven't noticed a difference in the mileage/tank.
Since I'm not on the throttle as much (since installing the XiED's) to get my '08SG to "perform", mileage/tank may have actually improved!
I know that closed loop and roll performance has improved and that's good enough for me.
Just my $0.02CDN..........

Stupid Question from a N00B

What does XIED stand for? Where does it go?

OK Google is my friend duhh It's a mechanism to enrichen the fuel air mixture on HD's with an ECM. Unfortunately NightRider doesn't make these for the 2009. (Yet)

I just put the 14.0's on 2 weeks ago and noticed an immediate difference. My 2007 Ultra is 100% stock and I wanted to keep it that way but man the heat was just too much. I noticed a substantial drop in engine temperature, noticeably smoother running motor and now that I've put about 600 miles on it since installing the Xied's I don't see much of a difference in fuel mileage. We got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic up in New Hampshire on Saturday and while the motor got warm it never reached the uncomfortable levels it did before the install. I would say the Xied's are a great product and it feels like I'm driving a different (better) bike.
