Difference between 07' and 08' ECM???
I just helped my buddy install a D&D Fatcat, AN Big Sucker, and PCIII on his 08' Roadglide. I own a 07' Roadking also with a PCIII but with Rinehart TD.
While loading his PCIII with the D&D Fatcat Map... I noticed that the 08' map looked ALOT LEANER than my 07 Rinehart PCIII Map. At first I thought it was the difference in the exhaust. So I did a map compare between the 07' D&D Fatcat and the 08' D&D Fatcat maps. To my surprise all of the 07' Maps (using the same exhaust) are a lot richer than the 08' maps.
What change did MOCO make to the 08' ECMs??? Why are the maps so much leaner for the 08' models.
Maybe this is a question the the DYNOJET dude can answer..... Any help/thoughts would be helpful...

The 08 touring models have throttle by wire so the ECM is different. As for the stock ECM, to meet emission they progressively get leaner and leaner as time goes on. I am not sure if there is a difference in the actual emission requirements from 07 to 08 but it would not surprise me. As far as the PCIII maps go, different exhaust, different size throttle body etc. all make a difference.

Sorry for the delayed response... I had to update my email.
Anyway, I completely understand about different mods (ie. exhaust, throttle body, cams, etc.) and how they effect the maps...
What I meant to say is when you do a map compare in the PCIII tuning software and compare for example 07' FatCat 2 into 1 (map 812-027) , SE/AC and an 08' FatCat 2 into 1 (map 818-019), the 08' map is A LOT leaner... as much as 32% in some areas of the fuel table.
Why is this... what is different between the two ECM factory maps (07' and 08') that would make such a difference in the fuel table? Excluding the TBW there should be little difference between the factory ECM settings.

in those lean areas, remember, with DBW, the sllde is lots slower to rise, less immediate air than with the 07. less air = less fuel requirement.
THIS IS A GUESS>

Again, they have different throttle bodies, different exhaust, different ECM's and potentially different emission requirements. The throttle by wire throttle body is larger than the 07 TB. The stock maps would naturally be different. When the PCIII map is created it is tuning for completely different builds and different stock ECM maps.
I apologize if that isn't what you want to hear but it is the only way I can answer the question.

25% throttle position @ 2000 RPM is still 25% throttle position @ 2000 RPM regardless if it is TBW or cables. But the size of the throttle body is different at all RPM's and throttle positions and it has different exhaust so the tune should be different in stock form. JMO
