96" to 110"

I just read a letter in the latest Harley Enthusiast Mag. on page 11, "Bored or Stroked". A guy asks if P/N: 29884-07 is a kit that will increase the new factory 96 cu. in. to a 110" with pistons and jugs only(no stroker crank).

The answer from HD was yes. It maintains the same stroke but uses a 4" bore.

The question is, is this a direct bolt on(like an 883-1200) or is there case boring required for the 4" jugs?

Case boring is required for the HD 110".

There are some site sponsors who can do a 107" for you without splitting the cases, however, if you're interested in that.

Yeah, the GMR 107" kit is what I'm looking at. Those are supposed to be a real strong deal with cams and headwork.

I just put the GMR 107" in my '07 FLHX. I'm getting it dyno'd tomorrow just for a baseline to see where it's at. The bike's going in anyway since I need a new rear tire. Been having a little too much fun with the 107". I don't know how it's going to turn out, but I'd bet it will beat any factory 110" out there.

I'll post the dyno once I get it done.

Great! I'm looking forward to seeing the graph on that 107 build. What all did you do with yours, cams, heads, etc.?

Steve sent the heads off to R&R for Stage III CNC job, used the Andrews 55 cam, HorsePower Inc 55mm throttle body with SE injectors (4.89 gm/s), and put a Rivera Primo Pro clutch in it. Using a TMax with autotune for tuning and a D&D FatCat pipe.

That sounds like a strong setup. I'm not real familiar with the TMax tunning kit.

The 08s that I'm now looking at(Dyna) supposedly have a major change in their throtle bodies, don't know how that will effect things build wise.

Go with the 107. I had my dealer do a 113 on a RK last fall and it was a nightmare. Also if you buy the 110 street legal kit from HD you have to get the catalyst mufflers. This is why I cancelled my 103 build. Did not want to buy mufflers I would not use. My dealer is trying to talk me into a 110, they say they have a good setup now. FYI-After 120 hours spent on my 113 I traded it back to the dealer for a stock Ultra. No, I did not have to pay for the labor, just for the hours involved in the install. Also HD only reimbursed the dealer for 35 hours.

I'll bet that many 95" builds will beat any factory 110 " out there.

Geeeeez, 120 hrs., that is crazy.

I'm thinking about a mid level 107 build myself without getting to exotic. 107 with headwork and a good streetable cam. Haven't decided on tuning options as there are obviously many. any suggestions?

Hi, I'm new too the forum. I'm also interested in going with either a very strong 96 build that will put me over the 100/100 or a 103 or 107. I've been studying results on here for some guidance. I ride a 07 RG.

I came across an article in the latest issue of Baggers magazine that did a 107 build. It was put together by a drag racing and custom builder Steve Huff. It consisted of parts from Axtell, Baisley, Zippers (they used a Red shift 575 or 577 cam) and Fueling. Their goal was a ride-able/reliable build; they ended up with 112/118. They made note of the very long and flat power curve of this build.

I was wondering if anyone has read the article and what they thought of this build compared to other 107 builds. I’m curious as too how these components compare from the ones others have used.
