twin cam 96 100 hp 100 ft lbs
Hey all I have read somewhere that a 100 hp 100ft lbs twin cam 96 is possible without raising the compression.Has anyone done this and if so what was the specific mods required to accomplish this?

???? What mods?? You would need to port the heads but with the stock compression you could get close but 100/100??? If you have a dyno sheet would love to see it. What cam, exhaust, who ported the heads??
If you where to port the heads raise the compression to 9.8 add a 37 or better yet a 525 cam you would exceed those figures you listed. We have built plenty of 96 inches that make more than that,....But with stock parts I do not think you are going to make those numbers.

OK you seem to be the man to talk to.What is the best bang for the buck on the twin cam 96.What I mean is given a budget of let's say 1500 bucks, what would you do to wake up a 96 in a road glide.I will be ordering a road glide for next spring delivery. If 1500 bucks is not enough, tell me what is and what I could expect.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well I can list some items I suggest and have had great luck with.
Ported heads 850, chain drive 525 cam 489 ( approx) fullsac true dual kit with mufflers 500. That kit would break the 100/100 easy and not kill the budget. Would run very cool, rev fast, offer very smooth power from 2000 up.
There are always ways to get a little more as well. But I always tell my customer to have a budget in mind as you can then work from there.

You mentioned that you can get a little more out of the 96, can you tell me how and how much more? I currently have a 07 RG with Tmax AT, Bassani RR and S&S dual induction AC. I’m getting 72/91 out of this set-up. During the winter I would like to kick it up a notch. I'm trying to decide whether to just get the most I can get out of the 96 or go with either a 103 or a 107. I'm looking for a reliable and ride-able power build.
BTW - I recently read an article in the recent baggers magazine on a 107 build using parts from Zippers, Axtell, fueling and a couple of others. They accomplished 112/118 and the goal was reliable/ride-able. I was wondering if anyone has read the article and what they think.

Thanks for the list. What method or equipment do you recommend to remap the ecm to this reworked engine? Also I have heard an awful lot about rhinehart true duals. How do these compare to the fullsacs you mention?

Not a big fan of the reinhart pipes. The full sac will offer you more back pressure ( something you need) the sert from HD is a great tuner to use.

What do you recommend on a TC 96" as far as 2-into-1 pipes? Something that's good with a stage 1, but still capable of handling something like a set of heads, cams, and a 103/107 kit later on? It's a bagger and I'm not crazy about the 2-into-1 looks and would prefer duals, but I don't want to put duals on if I'm just hurting myself torque-wise. Leaning towards a D&D Fatcat with the quiet baffle for a stage 1 upgrade (but open to suggestions) and then later on something like your 107 performance kit, although I probably prefer to stay with a 103 setup to avoid having the cases bored. Would rather do it once right, then spend twice as much to do it over again.

Have you guys had a chance to do any tuning with the new V&H Big Radius 2 into 1 pipe. They sure look good. I wondered how it would compare power wise with some of the other good 2:1's.

Ahh, thanks for the tip on that. I was under the impression that 103 was as far as I could go, but this makes the 107 setup that much more attractive now!

103 is one way to go bigger , we have custom pistons, for the 96 to 107 kits. Bolt on deal . depending on what you are looking for, the kits can be done very mild for the daily use baggger that is on a budget to kits that make 135+ hp.

Does that include the shipping Steve?
Also, how much does the Ghost pipe add to that price wise if it's added?

Definately will be looking to add some power later and was thinking about trying to work up to around 115 ft/lbs for my bagger. Not really concerned much with HP, just want a very long and broad torque curve. I ride 2-up a decent amount, so I've got to keep it mild enough and reliable enough to please the Mrs. I'm not certain how much the 107 power package adds, but I figure that it's as much as I'd ever need or desire, possibly even overkill for my needs.
