I have the SE stage one, installing the Tmax this week, planning to port stock heads and put in the 37H cams, going to do the work myself as my first internal motor project on a Harley. Was wondering if I should change out the stock pistons for flat tops and if this combo will get me to100 hp/100tq? Also thinking about going up to 103 -107" later on but a little worried about the crank bearing so I will wait and see a few years if this turns out to be an issue or not. Is thare any way to fix the perceived crank bering problem?
Bike is an 07 RKC just installed the IDS,clatter probs cured, which made me decide to keep and upgrade it.

You might be better off with the 34 cam grind or the new one from GMR, with a stroker. Unless you are going to 120 hp, I wouldn't worry about the crank bearings. If you want to go with new pistons, you might as well have the cylinders bored to 103 or 107. Buy pistons that give you 0 deck height(not S.E.). The 37 grind is great with the 4.00 stroke, but the longer stroke can use more cam, that is the reason for the 34 and GMR's new design.

If you where to port the heads raise the compression to 9.8 add a 37 or better yet a 525 cam you would exceed those figures you listed. We have built plenty of 96 inches that make more than that,....But with stock parts I do not think you are going to make those numbers.

Have you found a bolt-in cam that will deliver a meaningful increase in TQ in the low-end and midrange? HP is a secondary concern, and I don't want to do porting or compression increases. Have seen two charts on the Andrews 26 and I'm not impressed.
I have 80TQ from 2200-4900rpm now, peaking at 87, and 76HP with a stock engine with Rush 1.75's, K&N, and PCIII.

I have an 07 softail standard with SE/AC,D&D Fatcats, Tmat-AT. I have ordered the andrews 37HG and bought the SE adjustable push rods. I will have to do the haed work a little later but will the cams make that much difference by themself?

Steve, gmwrench---have you looked at the new andrews 54 cam? If so, any thoughts? Maybe another alternative without having to buy a new cam plate with the 525 cam.
Oh, I saw somewhere that the '07 heads flow best at about .550 lift, which may be why andrews is using .555 lift on the 54 cams??

Ported heads 850, chain drive 525 cam 489 ( approx) fullsac true dual kit with mufflers 500. That kit would break the 100/100 easy and not kill the budget. Would run very cool, rev fast, offer very smooth power from 2000 up.
There are always ways to get a little more as well. But I always tell my customer to have a budget in mind as you can then work from there.

Steve, My indy here in Farmington says that the 07 heads do not have enough material to port. What is your experience with the 07 heads. I am looking for a ported street head and not a racing head. What are your thoughts

The new RR525 will get you there. Read Mickeys post about that cam and I also talked to George at Moronies- he loves it on the 103" he did.

Call Big Boyz or another sponser, they know how to port, they do enough of them. I wouldn't trust it to just anyone. A street port is different than a race port, it will cool down the engine a lot.

Hey all, being a relative newbie here what is the dif in a nutshell between street port and race port?
Also I see that there are some gear drive cams out now.If I were to bother getting cams would the reliability or durability of gear drive cams be worth the price increase?
I am up here in manitoba Canada,is there anyone close to me that I can trust to port the heads on a twin cam 96?

Randy, do you have any dyno runs yet?.... It's great that Mickey and George are happy but that doesn't give us much proof of how well it works. That 525 package is very expensive and I would like to see some substantiated results. Both in the 96" and 103" motors.
Also when will the '07 chain drive cam versions be available.
thanks
Dave
