Anybody here use the SE 257 cams in a new 96 with a 103 kit?

I have a 2008 night train and my dealer is telling me to do a 103 kit, port the stock heads and use se 257 cams. Anybody use these 257 cams? I cant find any threads at all.

Thanks
Jack

Don't know anyone running them. But if you get the head work done by the right people(site sponsor) & get the comp right with the 257.It should be a good runner. Are there better cams out there yes,but if you want to keep warranty & this is a dealer build you should be ok!!!

Thanks. Thats kinda what I thought. I would actualluy like to use some Woods cams but I dont think my dealer would install them. This is gonna be a winter thing. You know, its there for winter storage and I will have them do some work while its there.

Thanks

Call one of the site sponsors & tell them what cam your going to run & have them set the heads up for the cam.I would call them & ask them what comp they had in mind. With the SE 257 48 intake close, I would guess about 10.0-10.2 maybe with a good tunning device like TTS Mastertune!!!You have to get a good dyno tune & the bike should run strong!!! The tuner should be fimiliar with the TTS!!!

I will do that. Thanks for your help. I really do appreciate it. Whenever I talk to the dealership they are not helpful at all.

Thanks

You don't want them doing your work if their not helpful. Its your money so get what you want the 1st time instead of regretting something later on down the road.

Used a 257 in a 107 Softail with adequate compression and ported heads. Would not use it for a heavy bike as it is a mid to upper range cam with late intake closing.
It's in the package and not just the cam. Ask the sponsors around here for a correct setup of heads and exhaust for that cam.
