Head pipe to blue?

I've had several Harleys but none have had this much blueing or discoloration. Is this normal?

harley are known to run lean out the gate.... look into getting a fuel system such as the power commander- it will somewhat go away. you'll always have discoloring at the head, as its the highest concentration of heat.

The 07 and Newer bikes are very common now days due to HD is putting the bikes out so lean so they meet EPA requirments. Thus making the bike to run hotter and do whats happening to your bike. Are you pipes glowing after riding?HD did have a Bulliten/Recall to make the idle a bit better by doing a D/T reflash.

Are you running aftermarket exhuast?Reflash if so or Do Power Commander or Thunder Max if you dont have this yet.

The exhaust coming out of there is only 1300-1500 degrees, it's a wonder that those pipes don't look like something out of a Salvador Dali painting

upon further inspection of posted pic, is that a shadow on the front heat shield or is that brown too???

blue pipe...

The heat shield has the brown or golden look...this is a 2000 Screaming Eagle with 15,000 miles. I just bought the bike and trying to contact the previous owner to see if they had and adjustments made to correct the problem.
Thanks for the responses.

The front cylinder could be off as far as the tune or it's set up. It's a magnetti marelli system so the throttle body runners are individual to the cylinders. No offense but them damn systems are so finicky to get set up that many just opt for putting carbs on them. Haven't tried out the HPI throttle body for them, can't be any worse than the stock system
