How much power from stage 2

I have a 2009 street glide with python slip ons, SE heavy breather, and a race tuner. I need more power!!! Had it dyno tuned to 78.11HP and 91.08 TORQUE. If i install the 103" jugs, pistons, and cams from the SE stage 2 kit myself, will it void the warranty. Also, what kind of difference can i expect to see after the stage 2 parts are installed. I would take the bike to my local dealer to have them dyno tune it after i install the new parts. Oh ya, i have plenty of mechanic experience with cars, i didnt think this would be to much?! Thanks. Ideas, suggestions, comments, Thanks again!!

Most 103 stage II's using the 255 cams aren't going to make significantly more power than you see now , 5% . I've been running it for 2 years and looked at many dyno charts for it. My advice for what it's worth , wait till warranty is up and go to a 107.
With a good cam ( TW54 for instance) you can see some reasonable gains for the investment.

I would say that you could easily reach 100TQ with proper tuning. I had the SEII kit installed on my 09 Ultra along with SE/AC and SE 4" touring mufflers and got 83HP and 95 TQ with absolutely no tuning other than the std 103 download.

I had the SE 103" Stage II with SE 255 Cams in my '07 Softail. Used V&H Big Radius, SE Heavy Breather, and PCIII. Made 82/102.

Click on the link to my dyno report if you have not seen it already.

Is there more power to be had, sure! How much ya want to spend.

It made a considerable difference from a stage I to the II for me. And I also didn't spend the money for the head work, I just cleaned the paint out. Who knows, maybe I would have had more.

I also believe a good pipe helps. Fatcat, Pro-pipe, Tuned Super Trapp ect...

any engine mods WILL void your warranty! i agree with them above, wait till warranty is up then go for broke...just a thought- i installed 95 kit with the s&S 510 gear drive and added the power commander on my springer and my dyno print out is 100 hp and 99 ft. lbs. of torque. i'm happy with it, the best part is with the 510's you don't really need to do any head work. it's not that crazy of a lift, and it gets rid of those crappy tentioners.

Just go straight to the 107 with mild cams. Mine is at GMR Performance right now. I went with the Andrews 54 cams and the CNC head work. Cant wait to see how she runs.

claydbal will become famous soon enough
python slip ons, SE heavy breather, and a race tuner------you have already voided warranty, per HD!

but, have no fear, you are protected by the magnussen-moss act, they cannot void warranty unless they prove the work was direct cause of failure. so when your crank slips, they have to warranty! laughing because the HD warranty has not covered many bad cranks--on totally stock bikes!

bottom line, fix it right, the way you want, and you wont need no stinkin warranty.

The stock heads are really pretty good in the later years if you want a grunt type engine. If you want more HP and more Rs, you need to do something to the heads. The most importand part for any build is knowing the numbers. The heads need to be CCed and the piston deck height needs to be known.

These numbers usually need to be changed in order to get the correct compression for the cam.

Lets clarify that a little. Doing engine mods will not void the warranty on your bike. It will effect the warranty on the motor and only the motor. I say effect because, according to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act a repair is not covered under warranty if the damage/failure was caused by modification that was done. So, for example, if you port your heads and a bearing in crank case fails, replacing the bearing will still be covered under the warranty because the head port did not cause the bearing to fail.

Same if you, for example, install a GMR big bore kit and the rear swing arm cracks. The repair to the swing arm is covered under warranty because the motor upgrade did not cause the rear swing arm to fail.

Another example is if install a thinner head gasket and the heads pop off because of too much compression the repair is not covered under warranty because the thinner head gasket was the cause of the motor failure.

From personal experience, I installed a SE Stage-II 95" kit on my ride a while ago. A couple thousand miles later I developed an oil leak in the seem between the cases on the bottom of the motor. Got it fixed, under warranty, by a local dealer (which included tearing the motor down, splitting the cases, and putting the motor back together again). Same when the main shaft bearing started to leak last month. Had it fixed under warranty without a problem.

Hope that clears some things up.

You keep full warranty with a SE stage II 103 CI kit if your HD dealer install it.

You will not void your warrenty if you go with the 103 SE Stage II kit (it's right there in the HD screaming Eagle catalog in black and white). It's called the 103, SE, Big Bore, Stage II, Street Legal Kit after all.

Now if you go to a Stage III or IV kit then you'll void the warranty.
