2010 Exhaust/Tuner Options
Wondering what kind of direction people are looking at going with the new bikes (Touring in my case). I guess I just want to get a discussion started and find out what options are available and what people plan on doing.
The bike in my opinion runs great stock but I will have to do something to let it breathe

I felt the same way, my 09 SG ran fine but wasn't where my 03 Heritage was with the built engine. I put a heavy breather, wild pigs, and a supertuner on it loaded with a dyno map a buddy of mine at an HD shop loaded on it from a dyno tune from another bike with the same set and it runs great and am happy.

According to Doc, & many others with late model HD's the TTS Mastertune is the Holy Grail of tuners. As for pipes, that is a personal choice.Lots of after market exhaust choices for HD's.

Just not sure about the headpipes, leave them alone or get something without cats?
It used to be only a few options; true duals, 2 into 1 or slip-ons. If a person wanted to keep the cost down all you did was throw on some mufflers, AC and a tuner of some sort. I think those days may be gone, a person may need to look at replacing the headpipes as well. I spoke to Jamie at Fuel-Moto and he said the 2010's are running at least 100 degrees hotter at the headpipe, not sure what that does to the slip-on option? Then if you throw in the "law" what's a person to do?

If it was me, I'd run a good 2 into 1(D&D would be my choice),but as i said it's a personal choice;with a good tune you will be fine. Now here is the problem. If your going to do upgrades, then make sure you do the important ones all at once;Meaning,If your going to add cams then do the cams, air filter & pipes all at once so the bike can be tuned with all to get the best tune/results.If you later do the heads the bike will have to be tuned again!!!!

That's just another reason I'm trying to start a dialouge, if the headpipes have to come off... that's when the cams go in

You will have to be patient if you want to pull the headpipes. Those O2 sensors are smaller with smaller threadsize than in the past. They are also farther from the head. The aftermarket will be doing some R&D before releasing headpipe replacements for 2010 touring models.
