510 cams=new map?

Thinking of installing S&S 510 cams/gear drive and adjustable rods on my '08 Streetglide.

1. Can anyone confirm if a new map is required?
2. Will the Terminal Velocity tuner do the job or is it better to go with the Race Tuner?

Bike currently has Reinhart TD's, S&S AC, Xieds.

Thanks, John.

map????????

Y E S you must remap....SERT, PC ,or most systems work well...best to DYNO but many CANNED maps work well...

geardrives aren't the best bet for the new bikes... better cams out there for half the price of the geardrives... if ur looking for more power, use the money saved for the 103" kit...

there are better choices

You won't like those cams unless you lower your gearing.

The 96 inch engine with it rather low compression and the 510 cam are OK but do not look for major gains. I just tuned for a customer that installed them himself. Was not impressive at all. Gear drive on that is not needed and the money you save could go to a better tuner and tune. Say a TTS that you can V tune yourself and a Andrews 26 cam that will boost the tq into the mid 90s without any issue. As well providing the power in a very usable rpm range.

I miss Toronto, live in Mi for many years. Beautiful city.

Thanks for all the great info, guys! I'm more educated but also more confused...guess I'll take more time and investigate my options.

s&S 510 G gear drive cams and Terry Components TV3

I am currently running the S&S 510g cams and the TV 3 on my 2009 96" Roadglide, bike pulls very strong from 2800rpm to redline. At 60 MPH I leave stock bikes way behind, I have tons of power in 6th for passing at freeway speed without downshifting.

I however am on my 3rd TV3 in 2 months as I have had a intermittent stumble that happens at 3000 rpms. The bike is now showing fault code p0152( Rich Rear Cylinder). Spark Plugs are tan I have also been riding in temps in the high 30sf to low 40sf. I am going ahead with a 103 build and will see what happens hopefully the 103 with sort out the rich issue, I have not remapped.
