Angry Usb Adapter On Sert Won't Work Right

Well Guys,

I hear about alot of you guys using your sert on trips so you can adjust. I can't even do it in my drive way. I borrowed my girl friends laptop which doesn't not have a 9 pin serial hook up. So I bought a Dynex usb adapter to adapt to the 9 pin serial cable outlet. What a pain in the B. I finally got it to work a little but it wouldn't record very well on data program running down the rode so for heck of it I tryed to adjust the map and re-program. It started to upload new map and stoped saying "unable to install boot loader, quiting" . I tried it on my desk top too after bringing my desk top down stairs and in the garage. It did the same thing. I took it back to best buy and the manager said it did that because it isn't a true 9 pin connection and doesn't have enought power or something. I know that there is some of you doing this but how??? Please help!!! Im tired of moving my desk top computer aroung and I am sure not carrying that thing with me.

Thanks in advance for all the help you guys always give !!!!!!

Well try this instead of loading can you look at the ECM info ?? if that is going then the USB is reading back and forth. I use a USB adpater called a tx power. TTS sells them they have no disc or any of that of , all program info is in the cable and it sets itself up.

I have found that some of the cables out there do not work as well. sometimes they work and the next time they do not. I buy the USB and cable kit direct from TTS and we stock the kits

springer- will become famous soon enough
A known good (SERT compatible) USB adapter is a Belkin F5U109. The rest are a crap shoot if they work. I would recommend getting the Belkin and trying again.

I tried one from best buy and circuit city no luck ! I dont remember the brands now. The Belkin f5u109 works great.
just remember to take your AC power cord out side with ya if your going to be doing data logging and changing the map for A very long period of time. If your battery goes dead in the middle of a download then you will wipe the ECM clean.
dont ask me how I know!
