Stage 1 reflash (happy)

I had my Ultra re-flashed yesterday. What a difference. The bike is no longer surging and burning hot. I had a problem with it pinging and that's completely gone also. I don't get it, why not do this programming from the factory? It's ok after the sale but not before.... I'm putting on mufflers next week and I hope it doesn't go back to the pinging hot motor it was. The air cleaner on it now is pretty open and can't imagine a S/E air cleaner will do a heck of a lot but lighten my wallet. I cut 5 1/2 holes in the back plate facing the back of the bike not the motor where it will draw hot air. That's 2 1/2" more opening. I'm going to deburr them at work tomorrow.

claydbal will become famous soon enough
vindex, your logic is just that-----LOGIC! yes, since the flash is EPA legal, then why dont they map the bike like that from MOCO? lets see, 250,000 screwed up bikes per year model, $150 per=$37,500,000! and the dealer gets $80 per bike sold! $50 million net per year!

okay , now that we figured that out, get out there and take more pics! i wanna see pics man. PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!! ya heard me?

I opted for a V&H fuel pack for around 250 bucks off ebay. I had the HD download done to my 07 XL1200C and really didn't notice much difference. My FLHX runs great with the Fuel Pack.

Will be interesting to see how your bike runs after adding the new mufflers. There are claims that the 09's adapt to change better than the 07-8s. If that's the case I wonder why it didn't run well to begin with?
IMHO if you decide to get a tuner don't waste your time on a Fuelpak. For $30 more you can get a real tuner with a map that will work.

Sounds like the fuel curve is mapped very lean and the re-flash opens it up some. The bike is WAY cooler running and the ping and surge is gone. Today it was 108 and it's running great!!!

Shot from Bisbee AZ and you can see my new mufflers. Sounds good. They are loud when you twist it but quiet when cruising. Perfect.

Mine has the stock air box right now. Runs way better than before like I said above with the re-flash.
