Best fuel management for me?
I'm going to pick up my 09 Ultra today. After I break it in I am putting on pipes and an air filter only. I was wondering what the best management system would be for me. I have a power commander on my Softail and had one on my Roadking, but this bike is staying stock..... I HOPE...
Thx

According to Doc,the best fuel management system for newer HD's is a TTS Mastertune!!
I'm curious, as to why you didn't wait for the 2010 models?? They will be out in about 2 weeks????

I couldn't pass up the deal I got. I had a 2001 RK to sell/trade and they gave me a heck of a deal. From what I understand there isn't going to be many changes to the 2010's except for colors. I got a Sunglo red Ultra with security for my and $10,800 out the door.

If I were to add a fuel management system it certainly would be the TTS Mastertune.

Ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers.
I'm running the SEST.
Go talk to your tuner and see what he prefers......

I'll get the pics on in a day or two.
I had to try to get some miles on it cause were heading to the mountains this weekend and I have to get it packed to leave tomorrow. I was able to get 275 miles on it so I don't have alot to go until the end of the "recommended" break in. I figured that the "Tail of the Dragon" would be a good place to see how it handles.
I was reading up on the Mastertune and it sounds like that would be worth the dollars. I am the tuner so I think the mastertune would be something that I could use and get fairly good results. Right now I say pipes and air cleaner but you know how that goes. I'm a mechanic by trade so it's hard to leave anything stock. After I get a few miles on it I may do cams or ??? I do everything myself and I'm not a big fan of getting anything done by the dealers....I'll do my 1000 mile service Monday..
I didn't get the abs option cause the only Sunglo red Ultra they had didn't have it. I don't know if I would have gotten it if they did. I did get the security though.
The ride difference compared to my 01 RK is amazing. I know it's almost 900 pounds but it really doesn't feel like it when you taking turns etc. I'm pretty happy with it so far.
Thanks for all the responses and I'll get a couple pics on after we get back from the mountains, although it looks like all the other sunglo red ultra's out there....but I'm ok with that.

If you do pipes and an air cleaner you will need to do something with the fuel.

I wouldn't want to make any comment about which is "best" technically since I don't have the technical expertise tohonestly comment on that. What I will offer an opinion on is based on a couple of questions:
1) who is going to do the install?
2) are you going to have it dyno tuned?
If you aren't going to have it tuned and are going to just have a map installed and call it good I would consider contacting FuelMoto and talking to Jamie about what you want.
If you are planning on dyno tuning I would check with the tuner you select and see which one they recommend and have the most experience with.
Feature-wise I think the TTS may be the one with better functionality.
I have a dyno tuned PCV on my '07 Ultra and am very happy with it.

Got back from the mountains yesterday afternoon and have just under 1100 miles in the first 5 days. It's time for me to do the 1000 mile service. I have to say I am very happy with the way the bike handled thru the mountains. I felt like I could put it anywhere and it responded well. I really wasn't used to a bike being so quiet and unresponsive. My 2001 RK did run well, so it's time to get the Ultra to run a little better
I do all my own work. I think I'm going with the TTS Mastertune because of the way you can work with it. I'm going home today after work and order pipes, air cleaner, highway pegs, TTS and a few other things to make it more comfortable to ride. Thanks for all the info. I'm sure I'll have some questions once I get Mastertune on and try to get it figured out. I'll get a pic on tonight, couldn't find the camera this morning.
