SE Stage I download
I have an 07 FXDL. Installed KW 3" HP slip-ons and nightrider XIED's. Runs great. Thinking of installing a SE air cleaner to let it breathe a little better. Local Dealer says I will need the Stage I download, cost is $150. Does that just richen up the fuel a little?
And if I decide later to install cams etc. dealer says I'll need a SE Super Tuner. Will sell it to me for $450. Would it be better to just buy the SEST now? Or if I do that will it require a dyno to adjust it for just the air cleaner and pipes? Then another dyno run I suppose if I add cams later.
I just don't want to waste $150 on a download and then have to by the SEST later anyway. But if I don't do the cams did I waste $450 on the SEST and possibly another $300 on a dyno tune?
I'm new at this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Find a Dealer or tuning center who can tune it with a SERT also be willing to retune it for you at a reduced rate if changes are later made. We always offer free or low coast adjustments to any customers who already paid for custom mapping as long as it's the same bike.

In that case would the dealer keep the SERT software? I wouldn't actually purchase and keep anything? I don't quite understand how this software works I guess. I thought if I buy the SEST I would also be able to hook up to my computer and do maping?
And what is difference between the older SERT and newer SEST?
Sorry about all the questions.
Thanks!

SERT is not for the do it yourselfer you get to keep the SERT you may load the program on to your PC. The working map that gets built for you can be burnt to a disc or emailed. The tuning center will keep a working copy of your map for future reference should you make changes cam's, pipes, they could easily adjust your map

Have the tuning center download your tune to a thumb drive so you can carry it with you if you tour, just in case.
And with just the SERT and a stock bike, you'll be much happier with the general overall drive ability improvement. Plus when you do do the inevitable upgrades, you'll be all set without needing to pay for another download or fueling system.

If you just stick with the XIEDs, slipons and the SE aircleaner Steve at nightrider said the AFR would be fine from Idle to WOT. So go to his web page an shoot him an email with any questions you might have ?

That was what I was wondering. I have three options.
1. Get the SE air cleaner and drive it as is with the XIED's.
2. Get the SE air cleaner and pay $150 for stage I download.
3. Get SE air cleaner and pay $450 for SEST, plus dyno time?
Thanks!
