Best spark plug?

Have an 07 FLHRS with K&N, Slip-Ons, Stage1 Download, and V&H FuelPak.

So:

Stock HD plug 6R12

NGK DCPR7E

Autolite 4164

Maybe i heat range colder?

I believe the stock plugs are the ion sensing, that is how the delphi system manages the spark knock......
So if you go to another plug you lose that, not sure how the ecm reacts after that.
Remember a post about using colder heat range plugs in a 07.
Not saying it won't work.... it may not cause any issue.

Don't start playing with heat ranges. If your asking this question, you will get into trouble.

You have been on this site since 04, this is typically 1st 50 post question.

I prefer the Denso or NGK Iridium in my 05 Ultra I can see a big difference in the mid range and they last way longer. I had a pal with a bad coil that would not fire the stock plug i put in an old set of my Iridium plugs and it fired and he rode home they take less voltage to fire

Jeffytune is reading this now saying WTF is this?
With any O2 controlled system, I have learned over many years it is best to use what the factory engineers designed and installed.

I can get NGK and Autolite plugs for 1/3 the cost of factory Harley plugs, and I run the Factory Harley plugs in my bike.
It simply runs better with them then it has with any other plug I have tried.

Another vote for the factory 6R12. I've tried alot of different plugs, and I've always went back to the HD 6R12.

I see this is a revival of an old post and I'm pondering the same situation. I just had a new build done and am going to put in new plugs when I get my final tune done in about 500 miles. Stock (original) plugs have about 7k miles on them so what the hell. I was pondering stock 6R12, 6R12 Platinums or one range cooler with NGK DCPR8E. I understand that the stock plug has the ion sensor for the EFI anti-knock. Weird how they do but the upgraded 6R12 golds/platinums don't? Bottom line for me is I believe I'll have it tuned with the stock 6R12's. For the cost of a quart of oil, I'll get two spark plugs and the anti-knock ability. Cheap enough to replace every other riding season (or every season if desired)...

You mean until they're so corroded that the threads come
out when you change the plug at 30K miles?

I use Champion RA8HC. They go on sale at Autozone for 99 cents and I usually buy a dozen. I put a fresh set in every 5k miles, a little anti-sieze on the threads, di-electric grease on the boots, never had a problem.

Yeah, I hear ya. Talking to the tuner/tech yesterday, he said they rarely, if ever, see any engine codes popping up spark plug related. He said FI and modern ignition technology make fouled plugs a thing of the past. He did say that most customers opt for the 2x expensive platinums and they don't have the anti knock ion sensor built in. Kinda sounds funny to debate $2.00 (RA8HC) > $3.75 6R12 after pouring in $1600 for a build/tune

Ion sensing built in?? I don't think so.
The RA8HC is the same plug as the 6R12.

Not according to the bottom of this? Same heat range specs maybe, but something a bit different? I dunno.....
http://harleyhelp.com/sparkplg.html
http://www.hdtalking.com/diagnostics...explained.html
"To clear up about the Harley Delphi EFI antiknock control theory.
This system uses ion-sensing technology to detect detonation or engine misfire in either the front or rear cylinder by monitoring the electrical energy at the spark plug after every timed spark. If an abnormal level of energy is detected across 2 or 3 spark firings the ECM responds by retarding spark timing in that cylinder as needed to eliminate it."
Non-stock plugs or wires can cause inaccurate data to get to the ECU and a false misfire signal / error code."
