I don't KNOW if the "mods" helped or not, But the mileage was better on the first "long" trip i have been on with the new bike. Most of my rides are 20-30 miles and usually in town. This trip was a total of about 400 miles, don't know if the temp matters or not but it was right at 100 degrees. As far as the "mods" all i did was pull the baffles removed all of the fiberglass packing, cut the baffles in half and re insert them. (I have pics posted in the exhaust forum). I am no mechanic, and got the idea from research and discussion with others.

If it runs the way you like, 42 is great.

I'm basically a short back road tripper and I like 37 mpg. Usually in third gear, our back roads are 25 to 35 mph.

I filled up today after running my regular short trips and I am back to about 37, so i guess the long trip is what gave me the higher mileage. I like the way it runs and sounds, but I still am gonna replace the SE and the factory exhaust with a 2 into 1 or true duals, have not decided yet.

You will get worse mileage with the Ethanol blend

Amen to that, 10% filler (ethanol) 10 % drop in mpg. On my recent trip to Colorado my mpg went from low 40s to 36 in Iowa where I couldnt find anything without corn in it.

I average 46-48 doing 75-80 on the highway, one-up. 42-45 2-up...depending on how much the ol' lady packs!

My 2007 FXDBI/Street Bob got 49-51 MPG stock when new..(Bought it new in November of 06 and put over 7k miles on it stock,in about 5 months).I added SEII slipons,SE Stage I air filter,V&Hs Fuel Pak and IEDs...MPG dropped to 40-42 MPG...ran about 25-35 degrees cooler though and performance increase was very noticeable.....replaced the FuelPac and IEDs with a PCV and noticed a dramatic performance shift, for the better, with no appreciable change in MPG or temp....now my 2006 FLHTPI/Electra Glide EX Cop bike got about 43 MPG when I bought it...100% stock (as far as I know) other than V&H slip ons which showed signs of excessive heat....I added a PCV and MPG dropped to about 41 MPG.....added the SE I hi flow AC and the difference in acceleration etc is VERY noticeable.....however the MPG dropped to about 39....I can live with it...

I just don't understand how some people get 44+ and even up to 51 mpg out of their bikes.

I get 33 to 38 here in Dallas area. 38 to 44 in New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. It's so refreshing to see 175 miles go by and still plenty of gas in the tank as I do on trips out of Texas. Otherwise, I fill up at about 130 - 135 miles. Any further really pushes it. I'm easy on the throttle and rarely go more than 5-over the limit. Usually solo.

Mileage? Did you say mileage?

After a fillup last week, I found I was getting 29 mpg after 535 miles of 50-50 country/highway travel and the sig mods.

I'm hoping for a gradual improvement in mileage between now and the 1000 mile service point as the engine "runs in," but the trike is 1140 lbs curb weight so it will probably need a T-Max to get the tune spot-on before I get any real gas mileage improvement. HD advertises 43 mpg, but TriGlide owners on several forums are reporting stock numbers from 26 to 30, so I'm guessing I won't be seeing too much improvement, even with the Stage 1 and T-Max on board...

(Pssssst...I don't care!!!...I STILL LOVE IT!!!)

(oooops...103". Sorry about that)
