Winter 95" Upgrade questions

I know there are a few threads running already but I have some novice questions.

I have an 06 Softail Deluxe.

I have the Harley 95" Cylinder/Piston kit that I plan on doing myself over the Winter. I also plan on doing the Roller Chain Cam conversion using Andrews 37N Cams.

I want to have the Heads worked a bit and actually tried calling one of the Sponsers here but 2 phones calls went unanswered. I'll try again next week.

I've read alot about Deck Height and Compression Ratio's and all sorts of interesting stuff but at the same time have no plans on becoming a master mechanic so I'll leave that to the Pros.

Question 1: If the heads aren't milled and just Ported/Polished will I be able to use the stock Push-Rods with a .03 Head Gasket?

I'd like to keep the Compression in the mid 9's so will I accomplish this with the Harley Kit - 95"Cylinders. Flat top Pistons.

I hope to keep it as simple as possible. I'm not looking to do hole shots but a little more umph would be nice.

Any other info or advice would be helpful as well..

Yes, the stock pushrods can be reused if you don't mill the heads much. I think you'll have a hard time reaching mid 9's for compression without milling the heads slightly as the stock heads generally run about 86cc's...you would probably be looking at about 9.2:1 with that combo. An 81cc chamber will get you to 9.7:1 which is the sweet spot for that cam (figuring a 0.0" deck height).

Thanks for the response.

I imagine the people doing the Porting would need to know the Deck Height before I send them the Heads.

I was hoping to avoid Adjustable Push Rods just to make the job easier but I guess what ever it takes to get it done right..

I'm looking forward (I think) to taking this on..

If you are going to do this build, do it right..............have the heads cc'd and milled to equal the compression and set it at the 9.8-1 that the 37's like. Do it right the first time so you won't regret it later and tear it all apart again.

Give Bean a call and he'll take care of you.

Heads

Our in-house cylinder head mods, will most certainly enhance the existing power of that build, and would also suspect an increase in fuel economy as well.

I had a chance to speak with Bean over at BigBoyz today. First off he was great to talk with and spent some time on the phone explaining all kinds of neat stuff to me.

It looks like I'll be sending my heads out in a few weeks for him to work on. I'll try and keep this thread up to date as I move along. I'll do my best to take pictures as well since I know seeing is believing..
