Hey thanks for the idea. That's much better (and cheaper) than the $15.00 oil chage thingy I saw at the dealership yesterday. Glad I waited.

I (stole) saved them to disk a long time ago. Your earlier post reminded me that I had 'em. They came from the yahoo groups Harley Dyna list. I can't remember who put them up, but it's too good to keep secret.
Guilty as charged.......

I have posted them in serval of those Yahoo groups. I am yellowfatboy2001 on them. Don't go their to often since most are not that active like this place is. But any help is a good thing when needed.

Works pretty well, thanks for the tip. Still had to clean up, but not nearly as much as before. Thanks again-Rob

Great post Bob! I have watched the wrenches at the dealers do the same thing!

I used this tip yesterday, changing the oil on my 02 FXDL. Worked great!
Only problem I had was getting the old filter loose (Revtech filter, did not have the "finger grooves" like the H-D, so my filter wrench wouldn't grab. Had to use the handy old screwdriver and hammer trick!).
Got any more tips like this?

That was a great tip!! Another method is to use aluminum foil.

Horizontally, I cut out the top half of a 1 liter plastic drinking water bottle, about 3/4 of the length, leaving the screw on cap in place to make it resemble a grain scoop used for horses (anyone want to donate to my digital camera fund?). Wrap it in duct tape to stiffen it and notch it for the crank sensor. I put the oil filter box under the filter, then slide in my 'scoop'. I've pre-loosened the filter so I can turn it with my fingers. What the scoop doesn't catch ( I let the filter fall into the scoop), the filter box does.
