Question Low Rider - Starting Problems

Have an 01 Low Rider with a Stage111 kit. It has a hesitation before it starts. Seems like the compression is to much for the starter. Put in a high perform. batterie. It has a hard time and needs to be recharged all the time. I heard there was a way to by pass the batterie, any suggestions ?

Thanks

Roadglider,

Can you give the specifics on your stage III motor? What is you compression ratio?
Do you have a beefier starter? You may need to add compression releases to the heads.

On the other hand, if your battery needs constant charging, I would inspect all elements of the electrical system first.

regards,

wyo

I used to own a '99 FXDL (w/ 95" kit, 258 cams, SE heads, etc ) and had a similar problem. I found that if I first "bumped" the starter button , then started it normally the drag was gone. I used to have to do that with my old '84 FXR too. Not sure why it worked, just know that it did.

Thanks for your help everyone. Had the dealer check. The problem was the stater inside the motor.
