Single "pop" with engine cold/cool after start

Base 04 EFI Ultra model w/o any mods (stock) that seems to be running fine; no other problems or symptoms other than an occasional single pop/miss when "pulling in clutch/releasing throttle/re-applying some throttle/and begin releasing clutch to begin movement forward, This occurs currently only with a cold or relatively cool (stopped for hour or so) engine. Then pop as the the clutch is released. Regradless of outside temperature but is summer here in Wisconsin.

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything similar.

I do have a little to much free play in the clutch cable, which I will adjust out tonight after work but I don't think that should be causing it? I recently adjusted the clutch down at the primary and re-adjusted the cable. Everything went fine and it shifts good w/o slippage; I just left a little too much extra free play in the clutch, according to the manual. I don't think that would do it or would it?

The question goes out; has anyone experienced a similar symptom? And, what was the resolution?

I have 1 month left on the 2 year warranty period to take advantage of if it's a hardware failure and not an adjustment.
