vibration?

I have an '02 heritage springer. i have vibration in the handlebars and floorboards at speeds above 70mph. i know the springer front end accounts for some of the handlebar vibs but i seem to be getting more floorboard vibs than other 88b bikes that i have rode. at 80mph and above my mirrors and floorboars really vibrate pretty hard. does anyone with a springer or any 88b motor experience this? btw, when i pull in the clutch it is smooth, so i'm assuming it has to be in the balance of the motor. any suggestions or comments?

Pretty much normal for a "B" engine, allthough some are more noticable than others.

does vibration seem to change, more or less, as more miles are put on engine?

As long as you dont beat on the thing the motor gets better then as the miles pile up (way up) vibbs get worse.
The only sure shot way to rid bad motor vibbs is to blueprint & ballence the motor. Ported heads help also. Other things such as tunning/ exhaust and such can help/hurt motor vibbs.

Sounds like the ballancers are coming out of harmonics. The sprocket on the flywheel shaft is a press fit, (its not keyed or welded), the sprocket will slip on the shaft and through the ballance out. The engine will have to come down and the wheels set to the MOCO to reset the sprocket or give you another set of wheels. Down shifting from high speeds will cause the sprocket to slip or over reving the engine.....most of the time its from the sudden slowing of the motor and the ballance weights enertia keep going sliping the sprocket.
