try pipes without remap?

Hey all.

I have an 2003 EG classic. Currently all stock. Ive been offered a screaming deal on some V&H Slipons, and the seller has offered to let me bolt them on and try them out before buying.

My question is this:

I have NOT done ANY mods to the bike. Stock intake. Do you think it will hurt if I bolt the mufflers on and ride for a day to try out the mufflers without having the fuel injection remapped?

If I decided to keep the mufflers, I intend on doing the upgrade to the intake (SE or Big Sucker) and having the injection remapped. But for the purposes of trying out the pipes for a day, do you think I would do any damage running a bit lean for a few hours? And with the stock intake, would i really be running that lean anyway?

your not changing the air cleaner so you'll be fine to buy and leave them on. when you change the air intake is when you'll have to add fuel, remap.

good luck and ride safe.

You won't be running much leaner at all because you're not taking in any more air/fuel mixture from the stock filter/intake setup. The standard response around here is that you'll be fine. Some people even keep their setuip that way. I'd be willing to guess that people on the forum is going to give you grief about the question though. The same one has been asked at least 100 times in the last few months and people just line up to tee off on the new guy who didn't do a search first. Good Luck. Now take your beating like a man!

Thats kind of what I thought. Thanx for confirming. As for the post, I must be the worlds worst at searching on message boards. I can never seem to find anything until AFTER I post the same question that has been answered 100 times.

Out to the woodshed for me then.....

I agree with what you where told but remember you are altering the combustion and exhaust flow meaning it will get leaner to a point but 97% of thetime the AFR is still in the box....you may and probably will experience some decel poppig with the new pipes.
