Running Lean

Hey,
I was doing some maintenence on a friend of mines 01 Dyna Wide Glide (carbed) this weekend. I checked her spark plugs and it looks like she is running lean. Now, the bike is completely stock as far as the engine goes.

She has complained that she has to ride with the choke out (at least partialy out) for a long time (like 5 to 10 miles) before the bike runs well without the choke. I'm guessing this could also be a result of a lean condition. True?

Anyway, my question is if her bike is stock is something wrong? Or is is this common? Has anyone found a better jetting or needle setting for a stock engine configuration?

Remove the cap over the mixture screw and turn it out a little.
