Labor cost

hey,anyone have an idea of labor cost for installing non gear drive cams.......thanks

Dealers, although they charge by the hour, have a set amount for most tasks. I would estimate the cost of the cam change at not less than two or more than three hours.

i know most shops in my area charge around $70 hr.....i just didnt know how many hrs it would take.......im just trying to put together some numbers of what it would cost......im looking at andrews 37b.....and some mild head work on the stock heads.....already have 95in done.......thanks

3 to 3 1/2 hours for the cams and 6 hours to R&R the heads . Some shops or dealers will package price for you at discount if they do whole job.

JRafter,

No need to pay a dealer just to change cams. It's really pretty easy. Only special tool you really need is to change the inner cam bearings just because of where they are and the concequences if they were to fail during installation or removal.

I see you are in Virginia. Got a good bud in VA that has done cams. Ask around .... someone lives close to you that could help you out.

It's a 2 hour job at most just to swap cams. You'll need adjustable pushrods if you aren't going to pull the top.

I got a price of $2100 parts and labor from a local shop to do the cams with geardrive and the heads..........and it incls having it dynoed ........i just have to make up my mind on if the whole up grade is worth it.
