FNG First Post ???'s

Hi all, I've been lurking for a few days now and really like this forum. I currently own a '99 XL883C that's real purty but no longer sufficient. I'm looking for some advice on my recent purchase. I'm active USAF currently stationed overseas and just ordered a '04 FLSTCI. I've got too many months and a wake up left before parole but trying to come up with a plan helps keep me going. I messed up with the Sporty by making it pretty instead of powerful. This time I want power first out of this already nice scoot. I'm looking to see what I can do for $3K. I'm really after torque. I'm bigger than average at about 240 and also will have the wife with me often. Overall noise is important and I don't want to blow away my neighbors. Any advise on where to start with this build? I'm sure it won't end here either, so maybe advice about building in stages. At this point I can't imagine wanting more than say 107" w/110hp-120tq eventually and I'm sure 3K is just a stepping stone in that direction. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Welcome. And stay safe over there. If I had an easy 3 grand or so to spend I might consider a supercharger. Check this link: http://www.wbtinc.com/
Nice looking blower but I haven't seen a single post anywhere from a user. I would not buy it without some discussion here. Also there is magnacharger, but to me it's a little too cluttery looking. As far as the normal routine of changing and altering engine parts, let the others here advise you.

I just checked out that supercharger site. I would say for less money you can have a 95" that makes damn near that much power and has a MUCH better power curve.

csoday will become famous soon enough
Go with the 95" conversion with a set of performance heads. For youe riding, the last thing you need is a supercharger. Unless you want your engine to be worthless in six months

Thanks for the input

A blower might work but I wouldn't consider it. I've read about several engine builds similar to what I'm trying to do but it seems alot of them took trial and error to get there. If you had it to do over again, what would you do differently? I rented a Road King and an Eglide before I came over here (Korea) and I know I won't be happy with stock power.

To csoday and all the others on the real front lines. Thank you for your service, be careful, keep your head down and may God bless you and yours.

Take Care
Clay
