Need suggestions for engine mods!

Ha Guys!

Been riding the new scoot for about 3 weeks now, Runs great. Has a few mods including V&N exhaust, high flow breather with K&N filter, and rejetted CV.

I've been told that I can gain a total of about 20 HP if I change/add a few additional things.

(1) Change the ignition module to a hi-po model. Not sure of the exact model.

(2) Change over to a Mukuni 42 or a S&S carb.

(3) Change the fuel valve to non vacuum model.

My question is,

(1) What, if any ignition module change?

(2) Which carb works better-produces the most reliable power (not looking for NHRA record)?

(3) Any other suggestions with out getting into major engine mods???

Thanks in Advance!!

Bruce

The combination of a Mikuni HSR-42 carb and Crane Hi4-TC ignition module will take you about as far as you can get without starting to tear things apart.

Thanks Jeff!

Have you made this mod yourself? Why did you mention the Mikuni over the S&S? Do you know if other ignition modules perform as well as the Crane unit that you mentioned?

Thanks for the reply!

HDWRENCH is on a distinguished road
I believe that there was a ign module shoot out and they all where very close the top one was the twin tec unit.. I hardley think you need to install a Pingal fuel petcock as you motor will not starve for fuel on the big end.

I would use the Mik as they are a better overall carb. I amnot a fan of the out dated S&S carbs. I guess if you love the S&S and you have to have it the cost is much more as it needs a thunderjet installed to run correctly.

My advice is save your money on the carb take the time to tweak the CV and use extra cash to buy a set of gear drive cams. The CV is a great carb not hard to tune it may not tune as easy as a MIK but hey you will save some cash. Good luck with the new scooter I love my Deuce.
