Bike now has 26k miles, not sure of the past maintenance history, so I would like to start my own log..

maintenance schedule, how to pages, whats the widest tire I can put on a stock rear rim for my 02? free DIY, performance tricks, etc.

Uncle Salty will become famous soon enough
I highly recommend buying the factory service, parts and electrical manuals first. Then completely service the bike as outlined in the service manual.

Buy the factory service manual, they give all the info on when and what to service. What size tire are you running now, a 130? Any bigger than that and you would have to change some things-- rim, spacer, and belt width's. If you really want a wider tire, get a wide tire conversion. Most bikes come with about the widest tire that can be fit without modification's.

When I bought my 03 RKC it had just under 19k on it. I bought it from of all places, a car dealership. It had been used as a trade on a car. There was no maintenance records with it and the dealer had no clue about it other than it had the owners manual. I took it to the local HD shop and had the 20k done. That included all the fluids including the fork oil. They gave it a complete going over and replaced anything related to the 20k so I could have my own record starting from scratch. It was a little pricey but at least I knew where I stood on maintenance. I traded it for my 2012 RKC this year. Whether it is true or not, the dealer said if a potential buyer can see these records (shop documents) they may be more inclined to buy if they like the bike. My 03 did in fact get sold within 3 days of my trade.

Change all the fluids. Get a manual. Pull the nose cone and check on the cam chain tensioners. Change the air cleaner set up to an SE or other, get rid of the stock pipes to get her breathing better. Did I say get a manual?
