Why not on an 88"?

When you look at the H-D catalogue, they indicate that the SE heads won't work on an 88" with flat tops, but will if you use the high compression pistons? Why is this? Is there an interference problem with the flat tops?

It's just the factory recommend. I assume they feel that head would be too much for the 88". No interference with it and the flat-top pistons.

I suppose it depends on the cam you chose. The high compression pistons have deeper valve reliefs to accommodate the larger valves at TDC
