Cool Help My bike is only hitting on one cylinder

06 streetbob, ran great and then I stopped for breakfast. When I started it up again the engine light came on immediately and the bike just would not run great. Backfiring, only front pipe is hot, the bike one is not at all.... Runs like crap and nothing happened to it while it was parked for the one hour we were in eating. Limped it home on the one cylinder, but it would catch every once in awhile and run good, the light would go out, and then within 5 minutes the light back on and running terrible again. I changed spark plugs, and they are both firing fine... What could it be?

Sounds like a bad fuel injector or maybe one of the fuel injector cables is coming disconnected. Do you have something like a Power Commander? If you do you might wanna check the connections!!

I have a race tuner on it, stage 1 and thunderheader pipes. It usually runs like a dream. I have 27,000 miles on it, so of course the darn warranty is no longer.... I will check the fuel stuff, as that is what it acts like, it is not getting fuel. I even thought maybe water in the fuel but that would not explain why it runs good sometimes but mostly not... Also when I put it on the kickstand in neutral the light goes out and it runs fine, but tip it up and put in gear and it runs like crap again...

That sounds like a wire shorting out, maybe to the rear ejector.

I believe the connecter for that rear injector is easily accessible under your seat. That is definitely where I would start!!

timing is set on the rear cylinder so if you were able to drive home the problem is in your front ... start with the injector wires first . sounds like a wires losose breaking contact

thanks everyone... found the broken wire, and it was obvious that it was broke, but plastic around it held it together enough that it would make contact sometimes. Crazy thing had been mounted right under the gas tank, and above the motor. the motor moved of course but the wire was mounted so it was not allowed alot of movement and finally just gave out and broke. Thanks for all of your ideas and help....
