Its ticking again

I just had my cam chain tensioners changed over to the new style with new pump and baisley spring. Quiet as could be in the top end for 800 miles then this weekend the old tick was back even louder. I wonder if the rockers moved off axis or need a shim. This bike is driving me nuts. My 09 does not sound like a pushrod is going to shoot out the rocker box why does this 06. I should have put in new lifters but with 8000 miles it should not need them. I thought the high pressure oil pump would take care of top end noise and it did for awhile. Any thoughts on this.

my 04 has been ticking since it was brand new. 35,000 now and no problems. I wouldn't worry about it until it breaks!

Ya'll, why can't anyone find out what the problems is with this incessant ticking. I had same problem, rebuilt upper, now running 60 wt oil....when rebuilding engine put new set OEM lifters in...had a defect, went with hyperformance lifter and damn if I didn't have a defect in one of them. Much better now but still a little...but liveable now.....wasn't before. Is it just too much loose tolerance in some of the motors???? They don't all do it.

Check for exhaust leaks, take a bbq lighter and hold it up near the exhaust flanges while the engine is running and see if the flame flickers.

Turn up the volume on your radio, if it's anything serious it's bound to get worse.

My 02 Ultra has been noisy for just about 80,000 miles. When it was new it was really bad and the HD shop keep dicking me around so at 50,000 when I replace my cam chain adjusters I all so replace the lifters and it got much quieter but still not as quite as a EVO. I am getting ready to put the kit in that changes it to hydraulic tensiorner. The twin cam engines are noisy no matter what. I know many that have gone back to driving EVO because of it.

If you have adjustable push rods you can trying to readjust them.
