A lil advice needed

Since my father has crashed my Electra glide which was a evolution, im thinking of buying a newer twin cam, which i never thought id do, but i like the way the newer bikes ride compared to my old bike. so all things considered. What are the pros and cons of certain year 88 inch motors? i know that 03 and up is the more desirable fuel injection. and i know somewhere there was a cam plate change, just not sure where, can anyone direct me to making the best decision on what year to buy. thanks chad.

I'd look for an '02 if you are looking at 88" 5 speed bikes.
Last year for the forged steel crank and Timken tapered roller bearing main.
First year for the bigger rear axle, also has the 4 pot brake upgrade and sealed wheel bearing upgrade that the '00 & '01 models got which the '99 hasn't got.
Have geardrive cams installed and you've got a pretty bullet proof bike.
Some have carbs and some EFI,I like the carb myself due to it's simple reliable design,my 2000 has 160,000 miles on the clock now and I'll not have a worry about a fuel pump failure or electrical issue with EFI ever.
I also prefer cast wheels, never have to be trued and no tubes to deal with so you can use a tire plug in an emergency.

Crank shifting has been an issue on some 96" bikes.

All the exact reasons I'd be looking for an 02. Plus they're dephi injected if you choose to go that route. I've only seen the 03 and later bottom ends come apart, nothing with a timken. I have an 00 with 69k HARD miles on it and had the rear rod go south, otherwise it was still true.
